DALLAS, Texas -- Fujitsu has focused its attention on the small to mid-sized enterprise market with a storage area network (SAN) it claims offers low power consumption and cost.
The ETERNUS2000's power design includes Massive Array of Idle Disks (MAID) technology, as well as a fully redundant hardware design. The SAN is quiet and RoHS compliant.
The company claims the technology avoids all single points of failure and offers high-speed back-up. Just about anyone can install ETERNUS2000, and it can be configured using a web browser.
The market is ripe for any type of green IT programs that cut power consumption and related expenses, said ESG Analyst Mark Peters.
"Enterprise-class storage solutions that are both affordably priced and highly flexible satisfy the specific demands of the SME segment which typically has the same storage requirements and challenges as a large enterprise but can't always afford a high-end solution," Peters said.
SMEs face power consumption, upfront costs and flexibility, according to Dave Egan senior vice president of storage.
"The system has a sub-$12K entry price for 2TB of storage, and offers the greenest power design in the industry, a fully redundant design, three-tiered storage options for maximum flexibility, and a standards-based approach to hardware and software that ensures the ETERNUS2000 SAN will continue to function as part of an expanding infrastructure," Egan said.
The technology can boot servers from the SAN and features One Point Copy. It is available starting at $11,100 when configured with dual controllers, dual power and four Fibre Channel server connections with 5 x 500GB 7.2rpm drives plus Storage Manager.
