Media sites Internet Evolution and Greentech Media have collaborated on Green IT Tutorial, a multimedia look at green IT issues.

The Green IT Tutorial site includes video question-and-answer presentations on basic and advanced issues, explaining what green IT is and covering virtualization, data center design, carbon credits and renewable energy generation.

The site includes related white papers, PowerPoint presentations and other resources. Readers can send in questions, which will be answered by Rick Thompson, co-founder and vice president of research and operations for Greentech Media.

"In reality, Green IT is a timely marketing label," Thompson wrote on Greentech Media. "Even so, it addresses real problems that have plagued the IT industry for years. IT managers and CIOs are waking up to the need to solve these problems with real products and services that are just now becoming commercially available in the market."

The Green IT Tutorial is the first in a series of multimedia tutorial sites by Internet Evolution looking at IT issues.

Greentech Media has also developed a taxonomy identifying the types of green IT services and programs, software, hardware, data center practices and renewable power generation, and plans to release a report looking at each segment in depth.
