Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association
The Food Trade Sustainability Leadership Association has been in existence since 2006, first as a program of Resource Innovations, a sustainability research group at the university of Oregon. We are now pleased to announce the formation of an exciting independent organization and to invite you to join us as a member!
As momentum grows across the organic food trade for more sustainable ways of doing business it becomes more important than ever for the trade to have a place to go to exchange ideas and information related to sustainable business challenges, explore areas for collaboration and receive technical assistance.
Over the last two years members of the Food Trade Sustainability Leadership (FTSL) Networking group have been working to develop the "Declaration of Sustainability in the Organic Food Trade." The 11 point action plan has been vetted with hundreds of organic growers, distributors, processors, retailers, and certifiers at many conferences
across the country. The aim of the campaign is to promote education and action toward sustainable business practices in the organic food trade. Companies who sign the pledge commit to transparency around their practices in key areas, continual improvement, and receive tools to support their efforts.
