OAKLAND, Calif. -- ICT could also save the country up to $240 billion from gross energy and fuel savings, according to research from The Boston Consulting Group and The Climate Group released Tuesday. The groups unveiled the U.S. addendum to a previously released report called "SMART 2020: enabling the low carbon economy in the information age," which used a global scope.
The problem of dealing with electronic waste is only growing -- businesses and consumers alike are using ever more electronics in daily life, and disposing of that waste leads to a host of potential health and environmental problems.
Other global regions -- the European Union, South Korea, and others -- have enacted wide-ranging policies to address these concerns, but the U.S. is still lagging behind.
